Tropical Birds,
Art Jonker, 2002. 18" X 24" Acrylic on
Canvasette
| ||||||||||||||||||
Painted while Art Jonker was studying the
work of Paul Gauguin. Like much of Gauguin's work, this
painting is characterized by bright colors, flat subjects, and
somewhat unreal color selections. The items in this
painting are selections of tropical life forms that would not
necessarily ever be found together. The birds are made
much more exciting and " parrot-like" by their bright
colors. In reality the birds were black in color and
vulture-like in appearance.
