Blue Woman, Art
Jonker, 2002. 12" X 16" Acrylic on
Canvasette

If you take a look at the painting Girl
Sleeping by Vermeer, you'll find Art Jonker's
subject for the Blue Woman. His goal was to
use color and tone to add an air of mystery and doubt to
Vermeer's cheery, innocent subject. Is the blue woman sleeping?
Is she bored? Is she deep in thought? Is she depressed?
Is she waiting for a husband, or someone else that has not
arrived....
